Jamboree on the Internet aka JOTI 1999

Experience & Greetings

For the first JOTI of my life as a scout it was fabulous! Especially:

  • How else is it possible for somebody to meet lots and lots of scouts all over the world within a weekend?
  • What's the choice for an easy way to get in contact with scouts from other countries and at low costs?
  • How thrilling it is to chat with someone from somewhere else behind a nickname without knowing his real age, sex and location?
Is he a she, a scout leader or a commissioner, a young cub or a scout, a venturer or a rover/ranger scout, male or female?

I am pretty sure that there're some more positive point here,
for example to meet someone who was at the same part of the earth than you'd been before. :-)

Well, only one thing which was a little bit frustating:

  • We weren't able to get our network to run... :-(

What a pity, but I will work on that to get it run for the next JOTI event in 2000!

Greetings to:

  • Casey (kcscout5) from Vancouver/Canada
  • BJ (was nickname) from Perth/WA
  • Reuben (bphopman) from Aruba
  • Jody & his ccPack381 (ccPack381) from Wisconsin/US
  • Mika (scoutpal) from Serbia
  • John (Hanria_GR) from Crete
  • The Romeros (Romero) from Stieldorf }:-)
  • The Winterscheider (dpsg-wiX) - no luck, mates...
  • Marco & Christian (TV4) from Italy
  • Eilis (was Nickname) from Cork/Irland
  • Bernd (grisu_at) from Tirol/Austria
  • Frank (FrankU_de) from Bocholt/Siegen/Germany
  • and all other I met and don't mention here...
