Work camps in Miritini
Special care we take for the young and elder woman and man going to the site in Kenya as camp participants or technical supporters, if they are scouts or no scouts. Camp participants should be of an age between 18 and 35. For technical supporters is deciding the competence and the health, not the age. All will be informed, trained and prepared on 3 to 4 weekend courses by in Kenya experienced Members of the project.
The project is in active Africa. They say in Africa the watches went different. Well, let it stand so. Experience will prove it.
In general we do no let camp participants travel to Kenya without intensive and sufficient preparation about the African country Kenya and the project. These will be held on weekends during school or / and university holidays in Germany or those of the other countries engaged in the project.
The participants will be informed during such meetings about the idea and philosophy of the international scout development projects Harambee.
They will be informed about the country it self, its political, social and ethnic situation and problems. Instructions will be given about the hygienic situation. The health prophylactic requirements before travelling to Kenya, East Africa, are part of the information. The social situation in Mombasa, Miritini and in the coast region will be informed and discussed, how to handle and to associate with by experienced Kenya travellers.
The work camps in Kenya last about 3 weeks. The duties are many fold: purchasing, cocking, water preparation; participation in buildings: like fencing of the centre, setting the new water pipe, tearing of the demolished huts in the scout area, taking care for the adolescent in Miritini.
